X-COM: Interceptor was the fourth game in the XCOM franchise following "X-COM: Apocalypse". It was released by MicroProse and Atari in 1998 for the PC (Windows). The game made use of several game genres, including space flight simulation, business simulation and strategy game elements.
Despite being the fourth game in the series, the events technically were set 2067, between the previous two games thus making it the third story in the narrative.
The game was also the first to incorporate multi-player elements.
